Hal Riney Icons of Marketing Dinner
This annual event celebrates marketing innovators and innovation in the Bay Area.
This year's event will be held at the beautiful Julia Morgan Ballroom in downtown San Francisco.
This award and the event around it, were founded with the goal of recognizing and honoring leaders and pioneers in the community that have helped contribute to making the Bay Area the global center of innovation and digital leadership that it has become. This year’s recipient, John Battelle, certainly meets that criteria.
John is a thought leader, an entrepreneur, an accomplished business pioneer as well as an author and musician. He first made his mark on the industry in the Bay Area as part of the founding crew of Wired magazine and later launched The Industry Standard publication during the dot-com era. In 2005 John founded Federated Media which now ranks as one of the top properties on the web and has led the charge around content marketing and the independent web. He established the Web 2.0 Summit events here in San Francisco, bringing together the brightest minds and leading companies to continue to push forward innovation and the digital agenda. He has also served as a Director of both the IAB and Acxiom, a major marketing services and data brokerage company.
This year and in partnership with sfBIG among many organizations, Battelle co-founded and led the creation of OpenCoSF. He is currently at work on If/Then, An Archeaology of Our Digital Future, due next year from Simon & Schuster.
Please join us to recognize John and to hear his thoughts on the journey he has been on so far, and importantly, where he sees us going.
