OpenCo celebrates innovation and centers on the concept of openness — open collaboration, open communication, open community, open company…open to new ideas & business models. OpenCo is a celebration of the companies who hold these values.
OpenCo is a cross between an artist’s open studio and a tech conference, with the vibe of a music festival. Participants build their own schedule of sessions presented by HostCos and held in their native habitat.
OpenCo launched last Fall in San Francisco by experienced marketers and conference organizers Brian Monahan and John Battelle. The concept was simple. 80+ companies (called HostCo’s) located around the city opened their doors and invited the public in to see what makes them innovative and talk candidly about what they are doing to change the world.
Using OpenCo as a platform to put their values into practice, HostCo’s validated the concept of openness in their native habitat: open collaboration, open community, open communication and open doors.
A mix between a business conference and artist's open studio with the vibe of a music festival, OpenCo was met with incredible enthusiasm and extended into cities around the world with events in New York, London, and Detroit. OpenCo was embraced not just as an event, but coined a ‘movement’ to demonstrate transparency and collaboration to advance the innovation economy.
Returning to San Francisco this October 9-11th, OpenCo will now host 130+ HostCos and thousands of attendees – technologists, marketers, job seekers, neighbors, investors, media and entrepreneurs.
Backed by an incredible network of support stemming from its advisory council and HostCos – OpenCo will continue on it’s mission to become a movement in the innovation economy.
